Why this should be good news for you, I will now explain. The price of a diamond is determined by its color, besides the carat, the cut, and the clarity. The closer the color of the diamond is to the D category, the more expensive the diamond is. This rule of thumb applies independently of the other criteria since colorless diamonds are very rare. In plain language this means that an E diamond is more expensive than an F diamond, which in turn is more expensive than a G diamond and so on.

 

By choosing a gold engagement ring you can save yourself a lot of money, because a colorless diamond on a gold ring does not necessarily stand out more than a category G diamond. For a gold engagement ring you should make a good deal with a diamond of colors J – L, because through the gold of the ring you will not notice the difference. One last piece of advice concerning the cut of the diamond. Some cuts clearly emphasize the color of the diamond, while other cuts tend to hide the color of the diamond. Also suitable, though slightly less, are the princess, emerald and Asscher cut.
